Intel plans to introduce the Diamond Rapids Xeon processor with up to 512 cores. Intel plans The company will use a non-SMT architecture based on Panther Cove-X P-cores. The processor supports 16 memory channels and operates on the LGA 9324 socket. Intel targets a maximum thermal design power of 650W for this chip. Standard Diamond Rapids models and the 512-core SKU will share the same platform infrastructure. Standard and 512-core Diamond Rapids SKUs share the same platform.
Intel plans to begin manufacturing the 16-channel platform in the middle of 2027. The 512-core SKU will launch slightly after the initial platform release. Intel expects to release the Coral Rapids processor with an 8-channel platform in the middle of 2028. Recent statements suggest that demand for AI workloads could accelerate the Coral Rapids release date.
