Intel CEO Chen Liwu awarded Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang an honorary doctorate at Carnegie Mellon University. The two companies are collaborating on new products. Intel and Nvidia are working together on a processor called Serpent Lake.
Serpent Lake combines Titan Lake CPU with Rubin GPU
Serpent Lake will combine an Intel CPU based on the Titan Lake architecture with an Nvidia GPU based on the Rubin architecture. The processor is expected to include 16x LPDDR6 memory. It will likely be manufactured using TSMC's N3P process.
Nvidia invested $5 billion in Intel in September 2024. Intel will manufacture and sell x86 SoCs that integrate Nvidia RTX GPU chiplets. Intel will also produce custom x86 CPUs for Nvidia for AI infrastructure. Additionally, Intel is developing a Xeon processor with deep NVLink integration for enterprise and data center use.
Chen Liwu said on social media that he was honored to confer the degree on his good friend Jensen Huang. He stated that Intel and Nvidia are collaborating on exciting new products. The manufacturing process for Serpent Lake has not been confirmed by Intel.
