Intel has introduced the Arc G3 Extreme, a new processor designed for handheld gaming devices. The chip features a hybrid architecture with 14 cores and 14 threads. This configuration includes two performance cores based on the Panther Cove design and twelve efficiency cores based on the Darkmont design. The processor operates with a base clock speed of 3.7GHz and a boost speed of 4.6GHz. It also includes 12MB of L3 cache and 18MB of L2 cache to manage data flow efficiently.

The Arc G3 Extreme integrates an Arc B390 graphics processor with 12 Xe3 cores. This integrated GPU delivers performance that exceeds the AMD Radeon 890M and the existing Arc 140V by more than 50 percent. Intel claims the chip offers multi-core performance that is approximately 25 percent faster than the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme. Single-core performance leads the Ryzen Z2 Extreme by about 8 percent according to PassMark benchmark data. The chip supports LPDDR5x-9600 memory and operates within a thermal design power range of 15 to 30 watts.
New processor details include 14 cores and Arc B390 graphics
MSI is preparing to launch the Claw 8 EX AI+ handheld console powered by this new processor. The device appeared on the Italian e-commerce platform Ollo Store ahead of its official release date. This listing confirms the hardware integration before the product becomes widely available to consumers. The appearance of the chip on benchmark sites suggests early testing is underway for this upcoming hardware.

The Arc G3 Extreme targets the competitive handheld gaming market with a focus on efficiency and graphics capability. Its hybrid core layout aims to balance high performance with power consumption constraints. The significant GPU performance uplift over previous generations addresses a key requirement for portable gaming systems. MSI's inclusion of the chip in its next handheld device signals early adoption by major hardware manufacturers.
