GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY has introduced D5 Single Boost Technology, a new motherboard feature designed to enhance DDR5 memory performance on compatible Intel platforms. The technology allows users to achieve dual-channel equivalent speeds using only a single DDR5 module, effectively doubling the bandwidth potential of one stick without requiring a second DIMM.
GIGABYTE introduces a new motherboard feature to enhance DDR5 memory performance on compatible Intel platforms.
The feature is available via BIOS updates for GIGABYTE motherboards built around the Intel Z890 and Intel B860 chipsets. Users can download the updated firmware directly from the product pages for their specific boards. Once applied, the system automatically detects compatible Hynix M-Die memory modules and adjusts settings to unlock higher performance.
D5 Single Boost Technology pushes single DDR5 modules up to 8,400MT/s in supported configurations. This speed matches or exceeds typical dual-channel XMP profiles found on many existing kits. The technology operates with lower hardware overhead compared to traditional two-stick setups, reducing the electrical load on the memory controller.
GIGABYTE claims a 10 percent improvement in frame rates, load times, and overall system responsiveness when running AAA titles. GIGABYTE measures these performance improvements by comparing the technology to standard single-channel DDR5 memory running at its default clock speed. GIGABYTE states that performance outcomes may differ based on the exact DDR5 module installed and the specific motherboard model.
The BIOS update required to enable D5 Single Boost Technology is available globally for all supported Intel Z890 and B860 motherboards. The technology is available as a free BIOS update for supported motherboards and does not require an additional purchase.
