Destiny 2 players are rallying for a sequel. A petition asking Sony and Bungie to develop Destiny 3 has gathered over 319,000 signatures on Change.org. The campaign comes after Bungie announced it will stop live-service content updates for Destiny 2.

Bungie will release a final patch called "Moment of Triumph" on June 9, 2026. This update adds permanent challenges, new loot, and a celebratory send-off. The studio will keep Destiny 2 servers online in maintenance mode, similar to the original Destiny.
The community has also organized a global log-in event on June 9. Organizers want all current and former players to log in simultaneously to show support for Destiny 3. The event aims to send a clear message to Sony that fans still want more Destiny content.

Sony reported a $565 million impairment loss on Bungie assets. The Final Shape, Destiny 2's last expansion, was well-received by fans but financially underperformed. Bungie's current focus is Marathon, a PvP extraction shooter that launched in March 2026.
Petitioners have shared emotional stories about the game. One wrote that Destiny 2 helped them through dark times and brought them friends. Another veteran said their greatest gaming experiences came from playing raids and dungeons with their girlfriend.
The petition and log-in event represent a coordinated push for Destiny 3. Bungie has not announced any plans for a sequel. The studio remains focused on Marathon, which has a smaller player base than Destiny 2 on Steam.
