Notebookcheck has published a follow-up review of the Dangbei MP1 Max 4K laser projector, highlighting several design quirks alongside its strong image quality.
Fan noise and power consumption spike at max brightness
The projector delivers a sharp and bright 4K image even at default settings. However, pushing to maximum brightness increases fan noise from 30.6 dB(A) to 52.9 dB(A) and power consumption from 71 W to 226 W. The external AC adapter is bulky and complicates ceiling mounting. The single 1/4"-20 screw mount is insufficient for the top-heavy projector. The remote lacks backlighting, no lens cover is included, and the power LED is very bright when the projector is off. The processor is slow, causing menu lag.
The Dangbei MP1 Max is currently available in the US for 1300 USD (about $1,300).
The review notes that while the projector's image quality is impressive, its design choices may frustrate users who prioritize quiet operation, easy installation, or polished accessories.
