D-Link has introduced a new industrial switch called the DIS-100E-05. The device is designed for small-scale industrial networking applications. It is an unmanaged switch with five RJ45 ports that support 100 Mbps speeds.
Compact industrial switch with wide temperature range
The switch measures 3.9 x 3.0 x 1.2 inches and features an IP40-rated housing. It can operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit. Each Ethernet port includes surge protection of up to 6 kV. The device supports power redundancy through a barrel connector and a terminal block that accepts 12-55V DC. Maximum power consumption is 1.45 watts. The fanless design uses Energy-Efficient Ethernet (IEEE 802.3az) to reduce power draw. It can be mounted on a DIN rail.
The DIS-100E-05 is already available at some European retailers. It does not appear to be widely available in the US yet.
The switch targets industrial environments where reliability and compact size are important. Its low power consumption and wide temperature range make it suitable for deployment in factories or outdoor enclosures. D-Link has not confirmed a specific launch window for the US market.
