Crimson Desert Sells 2 Million Copies on Day One, 5 Million in 26 Days

Pearl Abyss announced that its open-world action RPG Crimson Desert launched globally on March 19, 2026. The title achieved immediate commercial success, selling 2 million copies on its first day. Sales momentum continued rapidly, reaching 3 million copies within four days and 4 million within twelve days. The developer confirmed that the game surpassed 5 million copies sold within its first 26 days of availability.

Balanced platform split and strong Western market dominance

Market distribution data reveals a balanced platform split, with PC and console sales accounting for nearly equal shares at a 50:50 ratio. Geographic performance showed strong dominance in Western markets, with North America and Europe contributing over 80% of total sales. This regional concentration highlights the game's specific appeal to Western audiences compared to other global territories.

The financial impact on Pearl Abyss has been substantial. Crimson Desert generated KRW 266.5 billion in revenue during its first two weeks. This single title drove the company's Q1 2026 operating revenue to KRW 328.5 billion. The strong performance resulted in an operating profit of KRW 212.1 billion and a net profit of KRW 170.0 billion for the quarter. In contrast, the developer's long-running live service title Black Desert contributed KRW 61.6 billion in the same period.

Pearl Abyss has set aggressive financial targets for the remainder of the year. The company projects full-year 2026 operating revenue between KRW 879 billion and KRW 975 billion. Management expects Crimson Desert to contribute KRW 644 billion to KRW 734 billion toward that total. The developer also outlined a strategic release cadence, aiming to launch a new major title every two to three years.

Future development plans include exploring downloadable content for Crimson Desert, though the company stated there are no concrete plans yet. Other upcoming projects remain in earlier stages of development. The next live-service title, DokeV, is currently in pre-production without a specific release date. Additionally, a project referred to as Plan 8 remains in the conceptualization stage.
