China's online laptop market experienced a significant contraction in the first quarter of 2026. Retail sales volume dropped by 19.2 percent compared to the same period last year. The total sales revenue fell by 14.7 percent year-over-year. The market generated 14.8 billion RMB in revenue during this timeframe.
Apple market share rises to 13% driven by new mid-range device launch
Lenovo Group maintained its position as the market leader with approximately 34 percent share. Apple demonstrated the most notable growth, increasing its online market share by about 6 percentage points to reach 13 percent. The top five brands, which include Lenovo, ASUS, Apple, HP, and Mechrevo, collectively controlled 79.8 percent of the market.

Apple's surge in market share correlates with the launch of the MacBook Neo. This device targets the 4000 to 5999 RMB price segment. Rising costs for storage and core components have driven laptop prices up by as much as 20 percent. The MacBook Neo appears to have captured demand within this specific mid-range bracket.
The market report highlights a shift in consumer spending power despite higher component costs. Lenovo retains dominance through its broad portfolio, while Apple successfully penetrated a competitive price tier. The consolidation of the top five brands indicates a mature market where major players hold significant sway over online retail channels.
