A member of a drug smuggling syndicate has been sentenced to nine years in prison for importing cocaine concealed inside printers. The sentence was handed down in an Australian court on October 21, 2025.

Printers contained 22.4 kg of cocaine

The case dates back to 2017, when Australian Border Force officers intercepted five printers in Melbourne. The printers contained 22.4 kilograms of cocaine. Authorities replaced the drugs with dummy material and tracked the consignment to a factory.

Four men were charged in connection with the operation. Three have been convicted, and one was acquitted.

ABF Commander Clinton Sims said the agency is focused on stopping criminals who import illicit substances. He stated that the ABF works with law enforcement partners to target criminal entities and ensure they face justice.
