Anthropic Unveils Fast Mode for Claude Opus 4.6 and 4.7 Models

Anthropic has launched a new operational mode for its Claude Opus models. The company introduced Fast mode on May 13, 2026. This feature targets the Claude Opus 4.6 and Claude Opus 4.7 models. The primary goal of this release is to significantly increase response speeds for users.

Pricing for the accelerated mode is six times higher than standard rates

Fast mode delivers a 2.5x increase in speed compared to the standard operational mode. Anthropic states that this acceleration occurs without compromising the quality or features of the output. The service is currently available as a research preview. Users can access the feature through the API, Claude Console, and Claude Code.

The pricing for Fast mode reflects its increased performance. The cost is six times higher than the normal mode rate. Users pay $30 per 1 million input tokens. The output token cost is set at $150 per 1 million tokens. This pricing structure applies globally.

Access to Fast mode is restricted to specific Anthropic channels. The feature is available for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. It is also accessible via the direct API and Claude Code interfaces. The service is not available on third-party cloud providers. The reason for this restriction remains unclear.

Anthropic has not confirmed the long-term availability of Fast mode. The current research preview status suggests the feature is still under evaluation. The company has not disclosed when the mode will become generally available. Details regarding future pricing adjustments or expanded availability remain unconfirmed.
