AMD Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 Rumored to Double GPU Power of Ryzen AI 7 450 With 16 Compute Units

AMD Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 rumors point to an 8- core Zen 5 APU with 16 Compute Units of Radeon 890M graphics, doubling the iGPU power of the Ryzen AI 7 450.

As per recent reports 's next mid-range CPU for the Gorgon Point range is currently in the works. Based on the information available, it looks like the upcoming processor might be a great way to help your laptop get significantly more oomph on the integrated GPU front, especially if you want more 'everyday' performance without needing to splash out for dedicated graphics. This is important because the reported specs for the upcoming integrated GPU are basically double what we currently have available with the AI 7 450.

AMD is reportedly preparing the Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 for its Gorgon Point lineup.

Leaked specs show 8-core CPU and significantly upgraded Radeon 890M graphics

This new processor is part of the Gorgon Point range of products which AMD has classified as an update to the Zen 5 architecture. In the product stack this new CPU sits above the Ryzen AI 7 450, making it a clear upgrade for the mid-tier segment. We've previously reported on the high-end Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 APU which also uses the Zen 5 architecture, but this new CPU seems to aim at a different target market in terms of both the CPU and GPU performance.

Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 Rumored Specifications

  • CPU Cores/Threads: 8 Cores / 16 Threads
  • CPU Architecture: 4x Zen 5 + 4x Zen 5c
  • Integrated GPU: 890M (16 Compute Units)
  • L3 Cache: 24 MB
  • Family: Gorgon Point (Zen 5 Refresh)

The Ryzen AI 7 HX 455 will likely come with an 8-core, 16-thread design. This will mix 4x standard Zen 5 cores with 4x Zen 5c cores to deliver both performance and efficiency. We can also expect a Radeon 890M integrated GPU to be included, offering 16 Compute Units which is quite a jump up in GPU resources. The L3 cache is rumoured to be 24MB but there are reports that suggest it could be less.

Unfortunately with no official information from AMD on this specific SKU, there are a few areas that we still don't know. Boost clock rates and NPU performance are both listed as 'unknown' so far in preliminary reports. Price and release dates are also currently unknown (which means they could change before anything is made official). So if you're looking at this tier of APUs then it's probably best to hold off on making any decisions until things get officially announced.
