AMD raises prices for several Radeon graphics cards in China starting October 1, 2024, which means buyers will face higher costs for mid-range and high-end GPUs. The company attributes these hikes to rising memory and manufacturing expenses, a shift that directly impacts budget planning for PC builders and gamers.
Memory and foundry cost hikes drive official price updates
The adjustments target specific models within the RX 9000 and RX 7000 series, with the RX 9070 seeing the largest increase of 700 CNY (around $104). Other models like the RX 9070 XT and RX 6500 XT keep their current prices, while the RX 9060 XT-16G and RX 9070 GRE see moderate hikes.
Specifications
- RX 9070 XT Price: 6,999 CNY
- RX 9070 Price: 6,299 CNY
- RX 9070 GRE Price: 4,999 CNY
- RX 9060 XT-16G Price: 4,899 CNY
- RX 9060 XT-8G Price: 3,390 CNY
Memory costs drive much of the increase, with AMD citing a 10% rise in GDDR memory prices for every 2GB of VRAM. Foundry costs also contribute, as TSMC notified customers of manufacturing cost increases that affect production expenses across the board.
The new prices for the RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, RX 9070 GRE, RX 9060 XT-16G, RX 9060 XT-8G, RX 7650 GRE, and RX 6500 XT are now 6,999 CNY (around $1,043), 6,299 CNY (around $938), 4,999 CNY (around $745), 4,899 CNY (around $730), 3,390 CNY (around $505), 2,999 CNY (around $447), and 1,599 CNY (around $238) respectively. These figures reflect the official Suggested E-tail Price updates effective immediately in the Chinese market.
AMD states that these price adjustments apply to both domestic and global markets, though specific pricing data for regions outside China remains unconfirmed in current reports. Buyers should expect similar cost increases as manufacturers align with the new supply chain realities.
