GPD Unveils G2 and GPD BOX Mini PCs with Panther Lake and MCIO 8i

GPD announced the GPD BOX and GPD G2 on April 27. These new devices utilize Core Ultra 300 'Panther Lake' processors. The April 27 announcement introduces the GPD BOX and GPD G2.

The hardware features an MCIO 8i interface that provides PCIe Gen5 x8 bandwidth. This connection supports two USB4 v2 ports with 80Gbps transfer speeds. The system includes an M.2 SSD slot for storage expansion. Users can also rely on a 100W PD-out power delivery feature for connected peripherals.

GPD claims a performance loss of only 2 percent when pairing the device with a RTX 4090 graphics card. This claim comes directly from the vendor. The company has not yet confirmed the release date or general availability of the Panther Lake processor for these units.
