Nintendo is launching a new smartphone app called Pictonico that turns photo-taking into a game. The app will be available on May 28, and pre-registration is open on Google Play.
Free app with optional paid volumes
Pictonico is free to download with microtransactions. The free version includes only three minigames. Additional content is sold in volumes: Volume 1 costs 7.99 USD (about $7.99), and Volume 2 costs 5.99 USD (about $5.99).

Nintendo emphasized that photos taken with the app are not sent to its servers. The company described the app as a way to turn photos into minigames, adding that it is silly but unpredictable.
Pictonico represents Nintendo's continued expansion into mobile gaming, following other smartphone releases. The app combines photography with casual gameplay, targeting a broad audience.
