Fosi Audio has announced the MD3 MagDac, a magnetic external headphone amplifier designed for smartphones. The company revealed the device on May 25th as a compact accessory for mobile audio enthusiasts.

Compact magnetic accessory attaches to phones via ring
The MD3 MagDac attaches to Qi2- or MagSafe-compatible smartphones using a magnetic ring on the back. It features both a 3.5 mm and a balanced 4.4 mm headphone jack on the bottom edge. The device measures 70 by 45 by 12 millimeters and weighs 50 grams.
Internal components include an ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC and four ESS ES9603Q amplifier chips. Fosi Audio states the unit delivers 80 mW of output power through the 3.5 mm connection and 180 mW through the balanced port. The manufacturer claims this power is sufficient for most in-ears and less demanding over-ear headphones. The device processes audio up to 32-bit at 384 kHz and includes a round display with animated widgets.

Rumors point to a global launch price of approximately $150. The manufacturer has not yet officially confirmed the price. The device is scheduled for release on May 25th in global markets.
Fosi Audio has not confirmed the official launch window or final pricing details for the MD3 MagDac.
