YouTube is expanding its deepfake detection tool to all creators over the age of 18. The tool helps identify unauthorized use of a creator's face or likeness in AI-generated videos.

When the tool detects unauthorized content, creators can request its removal. Enrollment is done through YouTube Studio under the 'Likeness' section in 'Content Detection' and requires ID verification.

The tool was previously limited to members of the YouTube Partner Program, journalists, and politicians. The expansion makes it available to a much wider group of creators globally.
Team YouTube stated that the goal of the initiative is to provide creators with 'peace of mind'. The Verge reported on the expansion, which is expected to roll out in 2025.
