China Mobile Shanghai has commercially launched the 5G-A Super Uplink network in Shanghai. The service went live on May 18, 2025.

Network delivers 1 Gbps uplink peak

The network delivers an uplink peak rate of up to 1 Gbps. It also provides ubiquitous coverage at 20 Mbps. Alongside the network, the operator introduced a Token Universal Service. Users can purchase 400,000 tokens for 1 yuan CNY (about $0.15).

China Mobile Shanghai also co-launched an AI native workbench with Tencent at low cost. The workbench is designed to support AI applications on the new network.

The 5G-A Super Uplink network targets high-demand scenarios such as live streaming and cloud gaming. The token-based service offers a flexible pricing model for data-intensive tasks. China Mobile Shanghai has not disclosed further details about the AI workbench's capabilities.
