Anbernic RG DS Gets New Linux OS Without Removing Android

Anbernic has released a new operating system for the RG DS handheld gaming device. The OS can be installed without removing the existing Android system.

Linux OS adds dual-boot capability

The Linux OS offers three themes: DS Dark, DS Light, and Classic. It includes features such as independent screen brightness adjustment, screen content swapping, custom fonts, and a button test interface. When running single-screen games, the secondary screen displays platform-specific icons. Installation requires a microSD card with at least 64GB of capacity.

The RG DS is available on Amazon for 124.99 USD (about $125). The new OS is available to download now.

The Linux OS update provides an alternative to the Android environment on the RG DS. Users can choose between operating systems without uninstalling either one.

Anbernic has not confirmed any further updates or additional features for the RG DS Linux OS. The company announced the release via its YouTube channel.
