Asus ROG and Xreal have opened pre-orders for the ROG Xreal R1 augmented reality glasses. The device is designed for gaming and offers a large virtual display. Pre-orders in the US start today at Best Buy for 849 USD (about $849). Xreal's own online store will begin accepting pre-orders on May 17.

The ROG Xreal R1 features 0.55-inch Sony Micro-OLED displays with a 240 Hz refresh rate and 0.01 ms response time. It provides a virtual 171-inch viewable area with a 57-degree field of view. The glasses include an X1 spatial coprocessor for 3 DoF and 6 DoF tracking, electrochromic dimming with three levels, and Bose-tuned speakers. Brightness reaches 700 nits.

Xreal claims the R1 covers 95 percent of the user's focused vision. The device aims to provide an immersive gaming experience across multiple platforms.
