Dell PCs are experiencing blue screen crashes after a SupportAssist update. The issue is not related to Windows 11. Users see the error code CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0x000000EF) with a kernel power failure.
Uninstalling SupportAssist resolves the issue
The crashes are caused by a recent update to Dell's SupportAssist software. Uninstalling SupportAssist and its related components resolves the problem. This is a software bug, not a hardware failure.
A similar issue occurred in December 2024 with the same software. Dell has not yet released an official fix or statement regarding the current problem.
According to Neowin, the workaround is to remove SupportAssist entirely. It remains unclear when Dell will provide a permanent solution.
