Foxconn's Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin factory suffered a network attack in May 2026. The ransomware group Nitrogen claimed responsibility for the breach. The attackers stole over 11 million files totaling 8TB of data.
Attackers stole client data and network topology documents
The stolen data includes confidential instructions, project materials, and drawings from clients such as Intel, Apple, Google, Dell, and NVIDIA. Samples show files from Foxconn's electrical engineering team, including temperature sensor, IC, board layout, and financial files from the Houston factory. Network topology documents for AMD, Intel, and Google projects were also found, potentially revealing data center vulnerabilities.
The attack disrupted production for about a week in early May 2026. Wi-Fi was blocked from 7 AM ET on May 1, and core infrastructure was affected by 11 AM. Manufacturing normalized by May 12.
The attacker may have spread beyond one factory via inter-factory email or file servers, according to Appleinsider. The attacker already obtained files from the Houston factory, suggesting a broader intrusion. Foxconn has not confirmed the full scope of the breach.
