Kingston has announced that shipments of its A400 SATA SSD have surpassed 100 million units. The milestone comes more than nine years after the drive was first introduced.

A decade of affordable SATA storage

The A400 is a 2.5-inch SATA III solid-state drive. It offers sequential read speeds of up to 500 MB/s across all capacities. Write speeds vary by model: 320 MB/s for the 120GB version, 350 MB/s for the 240GB version, and 450 MB/s for the 480GB version.

The A400 has shipped over 100 million units since its 2017 launch.

The drive launched in January 2017 with three capacity options: 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB. At launch, the 120GB model was priced at 49.99 USD (about $49.99), the 240GB at 79.99 USD (about $79.99), and the 480GB at 139.99 USD (about $140).

The A400 has been a key product in Kingston's storage lineup for nearly a decade. Its longevity and high shipment volume reflect sustained demand for affordable SATA SSDs in a market increasingly dominated by NVMe drives.
