OpenAI Launches Standalone Deployment Company With $4 Billion Funding

OpenAI launched a standalone subsidiary named the OpenAI Deployment Company on April 17, 2025. Unit acquires Tomoro to bring 150 employees to the team

The subsidiary has secured initial funding of $4 billion from partners including TPG, Advent, Bain Capital, and Brookfield. To staff the new division, OpenAI acquired the AI consulting firm Tomoro, bringing approximately 150 employees to the team. The unit will deploy Forward Deployed Engineers who work directly with business leaders and frontline teams to redesign critical workflows.

OpenAI stated that these engineers will identify where artificial intelligence can make the biggest impact. They will then turn those identified gains into durable systems within the client's infrastructure. The company also announced consulting partnerships with Bain & Company, Capgemini, and McKinsey & Company to support these deployments.

This launch represents a high-value strategic expansion into the enterprise software sector. By creating a dedicated deployment arm, OpenAI aims to bridge the gap between frontier AI models and practical business applications.
