For the first time, the average market price of monitor in China in Q3, 2026 exceeded 1000 CNY (about $149). That means a big change for the thrifty monitor buyers. In the past, the sub-1000 CNY (about $149) market played an important role.
Entry-level monitor buyers face higher prices as China's online market average exceeds 1000 CNY
Now the average price for monitors sold online is 1001 CNY (about $150). It’s 6.4% higher year on year. Consumers will have to spend more for entry-level monitors.
According to RUNTO’s market data, sub-1000 CNY (about $149) monitors are still selling in the highest volume despite the price rise. Currently, 73% of total monitor units sold online belong to this price range. Yet the units sold in this range fell by 8% year on year. That is, users are either upgrading to higher price ranges or they buy fewer monitors in total.
Why is the price increasing? It’s because the driver IC price is rising and the panel price is up and down. In addition, the console is more expensive.
These factors raise the cost of monitor production. As a result, the average market price exceeds 1000 CNY (about $149), which is a kind of psychological barrier. Component prices push the monitor market into this new structure.
Besides, monitors that cost over 2000 CNY (about $299), the so-called premium monitors, only take 8% of the market share. Although the share is low, the premium monitor sales rose, bringing about a higher revenue for the whole industry. That means the sales volume of the low-end market is falling but the value of high-end market is rising. The market trend is clearly moving to a high price range.
All these data make it clear that the cheap monitors in China are coming to an end, at least for this quarter. In other words, low-end consumers are facing a high price. On the other hand, the premium users are enjoying more and more options.
The average price of 6.4% rise sets a new standard. We are sure that monitor prices will remain high. It’s because of the component price.
