GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme hits 400W TGP and $2,990 price in China

GALAX has launched their GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme graphics card. This card is a specialized offering targeting extreme overclocker/enthusiast markets looking to spend more for extreme factory overclock and unique design features. This launch is significant because it substantially breaks beyond what is typically provided by NVIDIA out-of-the-box.

This offers higher clocks in return for more heat and power. It will be relevant to those wanting to go with the absolute best out-of-the-box performance in the RTX 5080 range. But for those wanting efficiency and/or "standard" form factor, this isn't the right product.

The new GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is based on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics processor. The graphics processor features 10,752 CUDA cores. GALAX's custom board ships with 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM.

GALAX is running this memory at 30 Gbps. The memory bus is 256-bit wide for a total of 960 GB/s memory bandwidth. The hardware is suited to high-resolution gaming and content creation.

This graphics card uses 20+4 phase VRM for power delivery. One of the unique things about this new graphics card is that it has two 12V-2×6 power connectors. While you have two power connectors, you only connect one of the cables at a time.

So, the two power connectors are about giving you cable routing options. GALAX is using a huge cooler that has three 102mm fans and a single 92mm fan. They have Swarovski crystals on the shroud.

GALAX has two different modes they are offering that will affect the thermal and power behavior of this graphics card. In OC Mode, GALAX is setting their Total Graphics Power (TGP) to 400W. This is 40W more than reference.

With this, the GPU boost clock can get up to 2805 MHz. Then there is Gaming Mode. With this mode, they drop the power to 360W.

The boost clock will be limited to 2655 MHz. GALAX recommends using an 850W or more power supply.

GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme price is 19,999 YUAN ($2,990) in China. So $2,990 or so. It is now for sale in China, but it isn't clear if it will be available outside of China.

For display connectivity, there are three DisplayPort 2.1b connectors and a single HDMI 2.1b connector. The graphics card size including the mounting bracket is 347.5 x 158 x 79.1 mm.

The GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is all about spec confirmation for a new Hall of Fame graphics card. It's a unique niche product within RTX 5080. This is all about extreme overclocking and customization. Having dual power connectors provides some flexibility when routing cables in cases with limited rear access.
