Thermaltake CTE E660 MX launched with 90-degree rotated motherboard layout for improved airflow

Thermaltake has released the CTE E660 MX, a mid-tower PC case that rethinks internal airflow by rotating the motherboard layout 90 degrees. This design shift helps users manage heat more effectively in compact builds, which matters for anyone building a system that runs hot. The case is now available for purchase in China.

Rotated motherboard design enhances airflow in compact builds

The chassis supports a wide range of motherboard sizes, including Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, and E-ATX formats. Thermaltake designed the interior to accommodate these boards with specific mounting holes for back-mounted configurations. This flexibility allows builders to choose their preferred board size without compromising the unique rotated layout.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 558.5 x 270 x 513 mm
  • Motherboard Support: Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, ATX, E-ATX
  • Radiator Support: Up to 420mm (front/side/rear/bottom), 240mm (top)
  • GPU Length Limit: 443.8mm (without front radiator)
  • Included Accessory: 400mm PCIe 4.0 riser cable

Cooling options are extensive, with support for up to four 120mm or 140mm fans across the front, side, rear, and bottom panels. The case can also fit 420mm radiators on those same four sides, while the top panel supports a 240mm radiator. Users must ensure their CPU cooler height does not exceed 166mm to fit inside the chassis.

Graphics card length is limited to 443.8mm when no front radiator is installed, or 415mm if a front radiator is present. The power supply unit must be 220mm or shorter to fit in the designated compartment. The front I/O panel includes one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, and standard audio jacks.

Thermaltake includes a 400mm PCIe 4.0 riser cable in the box to facilitate the rotated GPU installation. The front panel is interchangeable, allowing users to choose between tempered glass or perforated metal for aesthetics or airflow. The side panel is made of 4mm tempered glass to showcase the internal components.

The CTE E660 MX is available in black, white, and green color variants. Pricing is set at 999 CNY (around $149) for all versions. The case went on sale in China on JD.com on October 10, 2024.
