Thermaltake has introduced a new approach to PC power supply design with its Dockpower series, aiming to simplify future hardware upgrades. This modular system separates the power delivery unit from the cable management block, allowing users to keep their existing cables when moving to a higher wattage model. This change matters because it reduces waste and cost for builders who need more power for newer graphics cards without replacing the entire unit.

Dockpower series separates cables from PSU body to simplify upgrades

The Dockpower line utilizes a docking modular architecture where a separate connector module attaches to the main power supply body. This design allows the connector to be pre-installed with cables, so users only need to swap the PSU body during an upgrade. The connector interface features server-grade 30-micron gold plating and uses hand-tightened D-type screws to ensure a stable electrical connection.
