Persona 4 Revival Social Links Easier Than Golden, But Still Hard

Atlus is releasing Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the classic role-playing game that aims to modernize the experience while keeping the original story intact. This update matters to players because it changes how social relationships and combat function, offering a fresh way to engage with the game's world. This change offers a smoother experience for players returning to the story, reducing the difficulty associated with the original game's systems.

Atlus producer confirms quality-of-life tweaks for relationship grinding

The remake retains the original storyline and character identities from Persona 4 Golden. Atlus has updated the graphics and presentation to meet modern standards while preserving the core identity of the title. The game introduces new combat mechanics called Send Flying and Prime Time to provide more variety in battles. These changes are designed to reduce the heavy reliance on exploiting elemental weaknesses that defined the original gameplay.

Social Links in the new version are fully voiced, which significantly increases the amount of voice acting in the game. Maxing out these relationships is slightly easier than in Persona 4 Golden, though the task remains challenging. Dungeons still use procedural generation but feature enhanced visuals that change dynamically to reflect the Shadow's psyche. SP recovery is also improved by breaking objects in dungeons and using Prime Time turns for zero-cost attacks.

Kazuhisa Wada, a producer for the project, stated that Persona 4 Revival is a little bit easier to max everything compared to Persona 4 Golden. He added that it is still not easy, warning players that the challenge level is substantial. When we covered the last Persona 4 Revival update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. The confirmed features focus on quality-of-life improvements and combat variation rather than narrative changes.
