Ubisoft is shifting the Rainbow Six experience away from its traditional multiplayer roots with a new single-player title called Rainbow Six Tactics. This change matters because it offers a different way to engage with the franchise’s tactical depth without the pressure of competing against other players. The game introduces a turn-based structure that prioritizes planning and execution over reflexes.
Ubisoft shifts the franchise to a turn-based single-player experience

Developed by Ubisoft Paris, the game places players in the role of the commander known as Six. You will manage base operations, assign operators, and upgrade your headquarters before deploying squads. The core gameplay involves up to four members per mission, allowing for coordinated tactical decisions in a turn-based environment.
The title features 15 operators drawn from the existing Rainbow Six Siege roster. Players can combine operator abilities, reconnaissance tools, gadgets, and destructible environments to outmaneuver enemy forces. The development team describes the loop as assessing intelligence and making decisions that shape each mission before sending the squad into the field.
Rainbow Six Tactics is scheduled for release on PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and Epic Games Store, as well as on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The game is slated to land sometime in 2027, though a firm release date has not been announced. A closed test phase is planned, and players can sign up to participate in that testing window.
