EA is opening the gates to Battlefield 6 for one week, letting players jump into the action without spending a dime. This free-to-play window runs from August 18 to August 25, 2026. It gives you a chance to test the waters before the next major content drop. You can experience the game on your current setup without any financial commitment.

EA opens base game access for one week starting August 18

The trial kicks off exactly when Season 4's second phase begins. This season brings a Top Gun Maverick crossover that adds new aircraft and missions. You will also see the return of the iconic Wake Island map. These updates aim to refresh the core multiplayer experience for returning and new players.

A new jets-only mode called Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep joins the REDSEC client. This mode features 10-minute matches using the F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Spectre aircraft. Six squads of two players will compete against each other in these fast-paced dogfights. The Carrier Strike mode also supports 64-player jet gameplay on a massive map.

We looked at the last Battlefield 6 update, several of the same balance and stability themes came up. That earlier review noted how the game handles large-scale aerial combat. This new trial lets you see if those improvements hold up in the latest season. The free access period ends on August 25, so you have a full week to play.

The free trial covers the base game and the new Season 4 content. You can fly the new jets and explore Wake Island during this window. EA uses this promotion to attract players before the next paid season starts. The event is available globally on all supported platforms.
