Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has expressed deep disappointment over the delay of the next BioShock game. The executive admitted that the development team wasted time and money on creative dead ends.
CEO admits wasted time and money
The game is in development at Cloud Chamber, a studio created by 2K Games specifically for the fourth installment. According to a Bloomberg report, the project failed an internal review, leading to layoffs of nearly 80 people and leadership changes. Rod Fergusson, producer of the original BioShock Infinite, was brought in to lead the project.
Zelnick said he is "deeply disappointed" by the delay. He explained that finding the right creative direction was difficult, and in retrospect, the team wasted a lot of time and money pursuing creative avenues that turned out to be dead ends.
The BioShock franchise has been dormant since the release of BioShock Infinite in 2013. Take-Two has not announced a new release window for the game. The company has not confirmed when the game will launch.
