Update brings SDK 3.0.2 and fixes stability issues
The plugin serves as the bridge between Intel's Xe Super Resolution (XeSS) technology and Unreal Engine projects. It bundles the XeSS SDK, which handles the actual rendering logic for super resolution and multi-frame generation. The update also includes XeLL, or Xe Low Latency, which helps reduce input lag in supported titles. This combination gives developers a unified toolset for performance optimization within the Unreal Engine environment.
The release upgrades the bundled XeSS SDK to version 3.0.2 and moves XeLL to version 1.3.2.10. Intel offers separate installation packages for Unreal Engine versions ranging from 4.26 to 5.8 to ensure compatibility across different project lifecycles. The update addresses several stability issues, including a memory leak in XeLL and crashes associated with NVIDIA Streamline. It also corrects invalid log-level handling that could interfere with debugging workflows.
Intel lists a specific known issue with the new Unreal Engine 5.8 package regarding XeLL compatibility. XeLL does not work correctly with Unreal Engine versions 5.8.0 or 5.8.1 at this time. Despite this limitation, XeSS Super Resolution and Multi-Frame Generation remain functional in UE 5.8.
