Google is opening Dataland, the world's first AI arts museum, in Los Angeles on June 20. The 25,000 square feet exhibition space sits inside The Grand LA, a Frank Gehry-designed building. The opening of Dataland represents a convergence of artificial intelligence and cultural expression.

Gemini-powered installation features real-time visuals and artist grants
The museum features the inaugural exhibition titled Machine Dreams: Rainforest. Google says the entire experience runs on its Gemini models. These models operate on Google Cloud infrastructure to drive the interactive elements.
The installation generates 1.2 billion pixels of visuals in real time. The installation features dynamic soundscapes that adapt to the surrounding environment. The system also includes real-time emotion sensing capabilities.
Algorithmically generated scents contribute an additional dimension to the sensory experience. Google Arts & Culture is funding an AI Artist Residency program. The initiative gives four artists $25,000 grants each.
Mentorship for the residency comes from Refik Anadol Studio. The residency program aims to encourage new creative applications of artificial intelligence. The museum opens its doors to the public starting June 20.
