The new hardware spans five distinct models ranging from single-bay desktop drives to an eight-bay RAID array. The devices utilize Thunderbolt 5 connectivity to ensure fast data transfer speeds within a consistent physical design.
G-DRIVE 8 tops the lineup with eight drive bays and supports up to 224 TB of total storage. G-DRIVE 4 offers four bays for 80 TB, and G-DRIVE 2 provides dual bays reaching 56 TB. The G-DRIVE 8, G-DRIVE 4, and G-DRIVE 2 models include hardware RAID capabilities and an electronic ink status screen.
G-DRIVE 1 serves as the entry-level option with a single bay that accepts Ultrastar hard drives up to 28 TB. The portable G-DRIVE ArmorATD rounds out the family with 6 TB of storage in a shock-resistant aluminum case rated IP54 for dust and water resistance.
Western Digital expects the high-capacity desktop models to ship in early 2027, while the single-bay drive arrives later this year. Western Digital markets the updated storage range as an integrated solution tailored for professional media production environments.
