Relic Announces Company of Heroes Definitive Edition with Modernization

Relic Entertainment is modernizing the 2006 real-time strategy classic Company of Heroes with a Definitive Edition. The updated version targets both new players and longtime fans who want to revisit the game with contemporary features.

Bundles base game and expansions

Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition bundles the base game with the Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions. It runs on PC and is scheduled for a Fall 2026 release. Pricing has not been announced yet.

The game receives a visual overhaul with improved lighting, shadows, water, and reflections, plus increased draw distance. It has been upgraded to a 64-bit platform for better performance. A new Ruthless difficulty option challenges veteran players.

Visual overhaul and 64-bit upgrade

Modernized controls include grid key support, fully customizable hotkeys, vehicle reversing, and automatic unit reinforcement. The game supports widescreen and ultrawide displays with an optimized HUD. Full mod compatibility allows access to 20 years of community-created content.

The Definitive Edition is part of Company of Heroes' 20th anniversary celebration. Relic also plans new content for Company of Heroes 3. The studio aims to preserve the original game's legacy for a new generation, according to CEO Justin Dowdeswell.

Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition arrives on PC in Fall 2026. The base game and both expansions are included, with enhanced visuals, 64-bit support, and modern controls. Pricing and exact release date are still to be announced.
