Display has unveiled the world's thinnest OLED laptop panel at Computex 2026. The Ultra Slim OLED panel is 20% thinner than current mass-produced displays, a leap that could reshape laptop design.

Ultra Slim panel targets high-performance gaming laptops

The panel targets high-performance gaming laptops. It supports refresh rates from 165Hz up to 240Hz, making it suitable for fast-paced gaming.

Specifications

  • Thickness reduction: 20% thinner than current mass-produced displays
  • Refresh rate: 165Hz to 240Hz
  • HDR certification: VESA True Black 1000
  • Motion clarity rating: ClearMR 11000
  • Glass thickness reduction: Over 30% reduction in TFT and encapsulation glass

Samsung achieved the slim profile through a specialized etching process that reduces the thickness of both the TFT substrate glass and the encapsulation glass by over 30%. The panel carries VESA True Black 1000 HDR certification and a ClearMR 11000 motion clarity rating.

Samsung Display claims a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and blacks below 0.0005 nits. The company says the panel provides device manufacturers with unprecedented design flexibility.

The Ultra Slim panel has not yet reached commercial production. It remains unclear which laptops will first use the panel.

Samsung Display's announcement positions the panel as a premium component for future gaming laptops. The combination of extreme thinness, high refresh rate, and HDR certification sets a new benchmark for laptop displays.
