Intel has unveiled the Crescent Island GPU, a new data center accelerator built on its Arc Xe 3P architecture. The company presented the chip at Computex 2026 to address growing demands for AI training and inference workloads in modern server environments.
Enterprise customers gain access to massive memory capacity for large-scale computing tasks
The GPU targets enterprise customers who require high memory capacity and efficient power usage for large-scale computing tasks. It integrates up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X VRAM, a significant increase from the 160 GB configuration Intel showed last year. The increased VRAM capacity enables the processor to manage significantly larger machine learning models and extensive datasets independently, eliminating the need for supplementary memory resources.

Technical specifications highlight support for microscaling formats ranging from native FP4/MXFP4 through FP64 precision levels. The unit operates at a thermal design power of 350 watts, managed by an air cooling solution designed to maintain stable performance under sustained loads.
Intel states the Crescent Island GPU maximizes performance per watt and memory bandwidth specifically for next-generation AI applications. The company projects that within five years, data center workloads will split evenly between traditional computing tasks and AI operations, positioning this hardware ahead of shifting market demands.
