Return to Blacktooth Released After 37 Years: Retro Sequel Finally Available

A retro gaming sequel abandoned 37 years ago has finally seen release. Colin Porch finished Return to Blacktooth, the long-awaited follow-up to Head Over Heels. The game originally got shelved in 1989 when Ocean Software shifted focus to consoles.

Sequel spans five planets with over 300 rooms

Return to Blacktooth launches on Atari ST and Commodore Amiga platforms. Thalamus Digital publishes the title. Porch's former boss at Ocean Software urged him to complete it, citing strong demand for retro games.

The game spans five distinct planets with over 300 rooms to explore. It requires at least 1 MB of RAM on the target hardware or an emulator. Porch described the project as a labor of love driven by his passion for the game.

A digital download is available now for 12.99 USD. Physical boxed copies are scheduled for release in Q3 2025. The pricing matches typical retro game digital offerings.

Porch started work on the sequel in 1989 but halted development when Ocean Software pivoted away from home computers. The project remained unfinished for decades until recent retro gaming interest revived it. This release marks the completion of a title many thought would never see the light of day.

Return to Blacktooth is now confirmed as a finished product available for purchase. The game delivers the promised content across multiple planets and rooms. Retro gaming enthusiasts can finally experience a sequel that was 37 years in the making.
