Eclipse Glow Games is fixing frame rate drops in Tides of Annihilation with help from Epic Games and NVIDIA. The game's Giant Knight boss fight caused performance issues due to its massive Nanite mesh. Epic created a hierarchical mounting solution to improve frame rates. NVIDIA will provide joint driver-level optimizations before launch.
Epic's hierarchical mounting solution reduces rendering load
Tides of Annihilation is an action game set in a post-apocalyptic London inspired by Arthurian legend. Players control a protagonist who summons spectral Knights of the Round Table. The combat system, called the Dual Frontline Battle System, lets players switch between two knights during fights.
The Giant Knight's Nanite mesh was too heavy for smooth performance. Epic's hierarchical mounting solution restructured the mesh to reduce the rendering load. This fix specifically targets the boss fight where frame drops were most severe. NVIDIA's driver optimizations will further enhance performance across the game.
Summer demo open to all players
A hands-on demo will be available to all players this Summer. Registration for the demo is open to everyone. The release window for the full game has not been announced yet.
Eclipse Glow Games described the collaboration as a deep technical partnership. The studio worked closely with Epic and NVIDIA to address the performance bottleneck. Such multi-company optimization is uncommon for a pre-release title.
Tides of Annihilation features four spectral Knights of the Round Table, each with unique abilities. The Dual Frontline Battle System allows players to deploy two knights simultaneously. The game blends melee combat with magical attacks in a ruined London setting.
