Insider Moore's Law Is Dead has denied rumors that Sony's PlayStation 6 will face a release date delay or reduced specifications. The leaker claims the PS6 is still on track for a 2027 launch.
Insider disputes VRAM and bus width cuts
According to Moore's Law Is Dead, 30GB of GDDR7 VRAM is the minimum needed for the next-gen experience Sony aims to deliver. Another leaker, KeplerL2, previously suggested Sony might cut VRAM from 30GB to 24GB and use a 128-bit memory bus instead of 160-bit. Moore's Law Is Dead disputes those claims.
The insider believes Sony cannot afford to delay the PS6 because PS5 sales are slowing. Moore's Law Is Dead stated that the "PS5 is dying quickly." Sony President Hiroki Totoki has confirmed the company is investing in a next-generation platform.
The conflicting claims from different leakers leave the final PS6 specifications uncertain. Sony has not confirmed any details about the console's hardware or launch window.
