Xbox Reportedly Considering Return to Exclusive Games, Insider Says

Microsoft is reportedly considering a return to console exclusives for Xbox. According to insider Jez Corden, internal discussions on the topic are "very, very big." The company's new leadership under Asha Sharma is looking at the Xbox 360 era as a model for success.

Insider reveals scale of internal discussions

The shift in strategy comes as multiplatform releases like Forza Horizon 5 have sold well on PlayStation 5 but may have diminished the prestige of Xbox hardware. Corden noted that the decision hinges on whether Microsoft wants to be an ecosystem company or a publishing company first.

Corden also warned that if hardware operations shrink, Xbox could become a shadow of its former self, similar to the current state of Microsoft's Surface line. The insider described Surface as being "on its deathbed."

The reports are based on information from Central and the Xbox Two podcast. Microsoft has not officially confirmed any plans to change its exclusivity strategy.
