Linus Torvalds Says AI Bug Reports Make Linux Mailing List Unmanageable

Linus Torvalds has reported that AI-generated bug reports are flooding the Linux security mailing list, making it 'almost entirely unmanageable'.

The problem became noticeable during the Linux 7.0 release candidate cycle with a surge in bug reports, mostly minor. Multiple contributors using the same AI tools submit duplicate reports privately, causing redundant work for maintainers.

Torvalds encourages contributors to understand issues and submit patches instead of just AI-generated reports. He said that AI tools are great, but only if they actually help, rather than cause unnecessary pain and pointless make-believe work.

The Linux Foundation has not commented on the issue. Torvalds' remarks were posted on the LKML mailing list.
