Valve is offering free standard-edition Steam games to customers affected by a shipping mix-up of the Steam Controller. The error occurred when carrier GLS routed packages to the UK instead of their intended destinations in Hungary and Romania.
Carrier error diverts Steam Controllers to UK
Steam Support apologized for the issue and asked affected customers to pick any standard edition game available in their region. Many customers chose Forza Horizon 6, which costs 70 EUR (about $81.41) for the Standard Edition. The game launches on May 19, 2026.
The Steam Controller itself is priced at 99 USD (about $99.00). Valve has not confirmed the exact number of affected customers or the total cost of the compensation.
Reddit users praised Valve's response. One user said the company understands that treating customers with decency builds loyalty. Another noted that Forza Horizon 6 is a popular choice because it is a game they would not buy on their own.
