Denon Launches AVR-X2900H and AVR-X3900H AV Receivers with Enhanced Audio

Denon has announced two new X-series AV receivers, the AVR-X2900H and AVR-X3900H. The models replace the AVR-X2800H and AVR-X3800H respectively. Both receivers feature updated internal components and a 32-bit DAC architecture.

The AVR-X2900H offers 7 channels with 95 watts per channel (2ch driven) and includes Audyssey MultEQ XT room correction with an optional Dirac Live upgrade. The AVR-X3900H provides 9 channels with 105 watts per channel (2ch driven) and Audyssey MultEQ XT32, also with an optional Dirac Live upgrade. The X3900H supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Sony 360 Reality Audio, MPEG-H, AURO-3D, and IMAX Enhanced. Both models have 6 HDMI inputs with 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz, VRR, ALLM, and FreeSync. They also support HEOS multi-room streaming and will gain wireless rear speaker capability via a future OTA update.

The AVR-X2900H is priced at 1349 USD (about $1,349) in the US and 1799 CAD (about $1,312) in Canada. The AVR-X3900H costs 1849 USD (about $1,849) in the US and 2499 CAD (about $1,822) in Canada. Both models are available for order starting May 14, 2026.

According to Denon, the AVR-X3900H can reach near theater reference level output without audible distortion when paired with Bowers & Wilkins 800 series speakers. Lyle Smith, President of Sound United (HARMAN), stated that the X-series has always aimed for uncompromising performance and that the new models combine expanded room correction and adaptive system setup for enhanced audio quality and flexibility.

The OTA update enabling wireless rear channels has not yet been released, and its timing and full feature set remain unspecified. Denon has not confirmed the exact launch window for the update.
