Valve's upcoming standalone VR headset, the Steam Frame, has appeared on Qualcomm's Device Finder website. The listing confirms key specifications for the device, which is expected to launch in the first half of 2026.

The Steam Frame will use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It runs SteamOS 3, which is based on Arch Linux and uses the KDE Plasma desktop environment. Qualcomm has stated that the chipset will deliver flagship class performance for immersive VR gaming experiences.
Valve plans to launch the Steam Frame in the first half of 2026. The company has not announced an official release date or pricing.
The headset is designed as a standalone wireless VR system. According to Valve, it should be capable of running Half-Life Alyx without a wired connection to a PC.
