VAIO has announced the deployment of approximately 700 laptops to Kuno City Hall in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. The city selected the VAIO Pro BK model as part of a digital transformation initiative aimed at improving work efficiency. This large-scale rollout marks a significant enterprise adoption for the brand in the public sector.
System supports facial recognition and fingerprint authentication
The VAIO Pro BK is the business version of the consumer VAIO F14, featuring a 14-inch display. The device prioritizes ruggedness and includes a large-capacity battery for extended use. Security is a core component of the design, with the system supporting both facial recognition and fingerprint authentication.
Kuno City Hall cited three main reasons for choosing VAIO: durability, battery life, and security features. The municipal government utilizes a three-layer network separation model for its operations. This infrastructure includes distinct segments for My Number administration, LGWAN connectivity, and general internet access.
The deployment follows a phased schedule within Japan. The initial phase of distribution began in October 2025. Full distribution to all city staff was completed by January 2026.
