The change is part of Microsoft's Windows K2 initiative, which focuses on improving system stability and user experience. CEO Satya Nadella said the company is concentrating on "core features and fundamentals that matter most to customers." Insider users in Dev and Beta channels will receive weekly updates. Those who update manually get new builds twice a month. Stable channel users will reboot only once a month.
Build 26300.8687 also includes improved search that handles typos better. Additionally, it brings fixes for File Explorer, taskbar, Settings, audio, Notepad, and more.
The update is available now for Windows 11 Insiders in the Dev and Beta channels. Microsoft has not announced a timeline for rolling out the unified update experience to the stable channel.
