Huawei has showcased its first commercial HarmonyOS desktop PC at the HDC 2026 developer conference. Qingyun W515y and W585y models shift from Windows to domestic ecosystem

The new desktop computers belong to Huawei's Qingyun series and include the Qingyun W515y and Qingyun W585y models. These devices represent a shift from traditional Windows-based systems to an ecosystem built entirely on HarmonyOS. The hardware is designed to support the growing number of independent applications available within this domestic software environment.

Hardware specifications are expected to match previous Qingyun models, featuring the Kirin 9000X processor. This chip provides eight cores and twelve threads with a base clock speed of 2.5GHz. The system leverages full domestic integration to ensure controllability and reduce reliance on foreign technology components.

The HarmonyOS desktop ecosystem currently supports over 17,000 independent applications and more than 3,300 peripheral devices. The extensive application support enables these desktops to operate efficiently in professional settings without relying on external compatibility tools. The focus remains on native support for domestic productivity tools and security protocols.

Huawei has scheduled an official release for these HarmonyOS desktop PCs in September. Availability is limited to the Chinese market, aligning with the company's strategy to serve local institutional clients first. The release schedule provides sufficient notice for developers and businesses to adapt their operations to the new platform.
