Microsoft released a new Defender update for OS installation images. This package targets Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU, LTSC 2021/2019, LTSB 2016, and Server 2016/2019/2022. The update closes security gaps by refreshing the anti-malware client, engine, and signature versions inside those images.

Security intelligence version updated to 1.447.236.0 with improved threat detections

The release updates the platform to version 4.18.26040.7 and the engine to version 1.1.26040.8. Microsoft states that these changes improve detections for trojans, backdoors, ransomware, stealers, and AutoKMS tools.

The security intelligence version now sits at 1.447.236.0. The update applies to OS installation images in WIM, VHD, and ISO formats rather than live running systems.

Microsoft notes that the updates can provide improved performance benefits in some cases alongside better security. The update impacts offline deployment environments by providing system administrators with refreshed installation media suitable for new setups and recovery procedures.

The latest intelligence update reached version 1.451.297.0 at the time of reporting, which may have changed since publication. This new package brings installation images closer to current live detection standards.
